School Styles 25 Minutes Or Less

I did a style similar to this a while ago click here to view, but I wanted to change it up a bit.

 Instructions:

1.) Make 3 individual parts going across the hair (horizontal.)

2.) Now make a part going straight down her hair (Vertical.)

3.) After parting, there should be 6 sections of hair, tie off each section.

4.) Begin making 2 two-strand twists in each box section.

5.) Beginning on the top sections, take one strand of the twist, and tie it into the box section below it.

6.) Next, take the other strand of the twist, and place it in the section below and across.

7.) Continue steps #5 and #6 until you are finished with the final box.

8.) Take the remaining hair, and begin making one big two-strand twist on one side, and another two strand twist on the other.

9.) Finally, add a small accessory if you want.

Kandy's (?) Time

Last night I did 3 braids in N's hair, as a nighttime style. In the morning I planned on taking the braids out and let her rock a braid out. My husband got her ready for school this morning, and thought that, the 3 braids was her hairstyle for school. He sends her to school like that! I woke up at 7:45, and realized that she is in school looking a hot mess!

So I ran to her school and asked if I can see her, they asked "why" and I told a little white lie (I know shame on me) and said "she forgot her medication" They said "oh, our nurse will give it to her" I  replied  "No, it's okay I would rather give it to her" They said " You would have to give it to her, in front of a nurse" I said "okay." After I gave N her gummy vitamins I asked if I can use the bathroom to fix her hair. The nurse allowed me, so I quickly undid her braids and threw her hair into a single ponytail.

When I got home I told my husband what happened, and he thinks I'm crazy! and I went overboard! LOL but I didn't want her to look a mess in school! I was teased because of the way my mom did my hair, so I wanted to be sure that she wont be teased. (I think my childhood issues, must still bother me DEEP down LOL.)

Okay, my question is: Was I overreacting? If you agree with my husband then you are no longer my friend ( I'm just kidding) but seriously what would you do, if you were in this situation?

Directions: For stunningly smooth & moisturized hair: Massage conditioner into your locks and leave in for 1-3 minutes. Rinse.

I went to my local Walmart and decided to look around for some new hair goodies. I found this Suave Professional 100% Natural Almond+Shea Butter Conditioner. It cost under 3 dollars so I decided to give it a try. I washed N's hair and then applied this conditioner in sections all over her hair. I let it sit for about 15 mins, then I did a light rinse out. I really like the scent! It's consistency is thick and creamy, and when I rinsed it out, her hair felt very soft. I even left a little in as a leave in. In the morning she did have a slight residue of it in her hair. Overall this conditioner is okay, and for under 3 dollars I couldn't beat that. I will add this to our routine as a rinse out conditioner, in the mean time I will continue to search for something that won't leave a residue.

*UPDATE: Well yesterday, I noticed N kept scratching her hair. I don't like to blame products it could be a combo of things that can make a child itch. This was a new product added to our routine, so I will keep an eye out on it, and I recommend washing it out, rather than leaving some of it in as a leave in conditioner.

Curlformers Review/ Easter Style

Curlformers are revolutionary because the curls are formed inside the Curlformers, so they do the work for you! Quick and easy to apply yourself or with the help of a friend, Curlformers are a great fun way to create perfect curls and add volume and texture to your hair without causing heat damage!

.

Thanks to my friends over at Curlformers, I have the wonderful opportunity to review Curlformers! I had heard so many great reviews on them, so I had to give it a try, and I'm glad I did! When I first seen these rollers, I thought it looked super silly it kind of reminded me of Medusa LOL my mind wanders sometimes.

But, once I seen the results on a few youtube videos, I knew I wanted to try it! It took awhile for me getting use to pulling the hair down the roller. But I got the hang of it after a few times of accidentally pulling N's hair..OUCH! But she was a trooper and even helped by sliding the rollers on, and handing it to me. Overall I loved the results and will definitely use this again!

Here is the instruction video that showed me how to use the Curlformers

I also loved this instructional video as well

Instructions:

1.) I washed N's hair with our regular routine.

2.) Then I parted her wet hair from ear to ear.

3.) I started in the back section, and added Motions Wrapping Lotion to the back section.

4.) I began taking a 1/2 inch section of hair and put on the Curlformer.

5.) I continued until I completed the entire back section.

6.) I re-wet the top section, by adding a little water with conditioner mix.

7.) Then, I applied the wrapping lotion, and smoothed her hair into a ponytail.

8.) I added Curlformers to the ponytail, and left the rollers in overnight.

9.) In the morning, I took out the Curlformers and sprayed some Bee Mine Juicy Spritz.

I brought this flower headband at our local Walmart.

Total Time: Approx 45 mins (not including washing)

HAPPY EASTER!

Vacation Protection Style: Box Braids

Well after dealing with this cold winter, I had to get away once spring hit! And what better place to go on vacation than FLORIDA! I was super happy to be able to relax in Miami, and N was super excited to go to Disney World! So leave it up to me, to start packing the night before we leave lol. In the middle of packing I said to myself "What am I going to do with N's hair?" I wanted a style that will last a long time, so I can be hair-care free! So I picked Classic Box Braids, this style took me 3 hours to complete, and lasted 2 weeks. I wasn't able to take pics before we left because (last minute me, was in a rush lol) but I took plenty of pics during our vacation.

WARNING: PIC OVERLOAD

I divided the box braids into 2 sections, and braided each one. Then I added a hair bow to the ends.

Goofing off in front of a hair salon. Can you tell which one is N?

Yee-haww Get'em Cowgirl!! FYI: she didn't fall off :)

Instructions on how to make box braids:

1.) I started with clean moisturized hair.

2.) I began in the back of her hair, by making a row of boxed parts approx, 1 inch apart.

3.) Then, I made a single braid in the box. I continued steps #2-3 until I was finished with her entire hair.

In this picture, I co-washed her hair (using Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner) after she went swimming and made 4 braids for her to sleep in.

The next day, I removed the 4 braids and she was left with a cute curl style.

As you can see it was starting to frizz up :(

For Disney World,  I created a Princess Bun (sock bun) for N while she dined with Winnie & Friends

I removed the sock (after the sock was showing, because of the fast rides) and made a single braid. The beautiful flower is from Fatemeh! She has a beautiful selection of accessories, click here to check out her site.

I created this style by simply making a two-strand twist going down her hair.

And we lived happily ever after
THE END :)

How long does it take for you to detangle your little one's hair?

Rainbow Braid-Hawk Bead Style

As you can see I stink at coming up with names for these styles LOL.  I wanted to do a cornbraided mohawk and N wanted me to do something with alot of beads. So I tried my best to do it all, and it came out pretty nice!

Instructions:

1.) Start off making a part going from ear to ear.

2.) Beginning in the back section, I started cornbraiding going down.

3.) Once I braided down about a few centimeters, I stopped braiding and added a bead. Then I continued braiding all the way down.

4.) I continued braiding the entire back section of N's hair, following step #3.

5.) On the top section, I began making parts on the right side of her ear, going towards the center of N's hair.

6.) Then I continued step #3

7.) Next, on the left side of her ear, I made braids going toward the center of her hair. Then I followed step #3

8.)Once I reached the front piece of her hair I added a rubberband.

9.) Finally, I made 2 two-strand twists and added beads to the ends of her hair.

Sorry if the braids seem fuzzy, I took these pictures on day 2.

Spotlight: D

Hi, I'm Ds Mommy and I've just recently begun to learn about styling, proper care of natural curls and what to avoid when working with this type of hair! D is 5 years old, she loves to sing, dance, and play with her baby brother! She gets her hair washed once a week, currently with Kinky Curly Come Clean, we condition with HEHH, detangle with KC KnotToday, moisturize with Bee Mine Deja Hair Milk, then seal with an all-natural oil mix and style using either Bee Mine Curly Butter or Kinky Curly Curling Custard. She does have fine hair so styles only last 1 day to 1 week at the most. Here are some of our favorite styles:

Brooke's styles are HOT! You are doing an excellent job on D's hair! She is lucky to have a mom that can do such creative hairstyles! To see more of D's hairstyles by her talented mom, you can visit their blog  http://untrainedhairmom.blogspot.com/

N's Feature On Precious Curls

N has been featured on Precious Curls as the "little natural" spotlight! Precious Curls is a blog dedicated to the love, care, and appreciation of natural, tightly curled, beautiful hair with product reviews, hairstyles, stories, features, and other natural hair-related posts featured on Precious Curls. Thanks for letting N be featured on your site! Click here to see our spotlight.

Cool Hair Facts :)

When you are finished washing your hair, rinse your hair with cold water. Cold water helps to "close the pores" of your hair. So your hair will look shinier when it dries.

I love hot showers/baths, I will try it, and I hope it makes it shiny for a VERY long time!

Celebrity Hair Look-A-Like: Willow Smith

I seen this cute style on Willow Smith, and instantly I wanted to try it on N. This style took us approx 45 mins, and lasted 4 days. When we went to the local grocery store, and N received two compliments on this style :)

Instructions:

1.) I washed her hair the night before, so her hair was moisturized and detangled.

2.) I started making 4 cornbraids going straight back, starting near her ear.

3.) I made 4 additional braids on the other side of her hair going straight back.

4.) In the middle of her hair I made a zig-zag part and made 2 cornbraids.
