Tangle Teezer Review

After hearing about the Tangle Teezer everywhere, I still was very skeptical. I heard rave reviews for the denman brush and I jumped on the band wagon, and it did absolutely nothing for our hair. So I figure this brush would live up to it's name and be a big fat teaser aka teezer!

But, I was soooooo wrong! This brush is the best brush on the market! It may look a little funny, with it's long and short bristles, and it doesn't have a handle or anything to help grip it in your hands. But the way that it glides through N's hair is incredible! I have been using it for a few months now, on both wet and dry hair to detangle and it doesn't pull or cause breakage. When I first tried it and I heard the sound it makes(like a crunchy/ripping sound) I was ready to toss it away, but don't be fooled by the sound. All of the hair that was left in the brush was shed hair.

The Tangle Teezer clumps her curls together so nicely when her hair is wet. I have tossed my wide tooth comb and all of my other combs and brushes to the side. I'm not to sure what makes this brush detangle with such ease..it must be some form of magic lol.

I also had to try this brush, isn't it simply adorable! N loves it, she puts her stickers inside of it.

Overall this is a great detangling brush, and if you haven't tried it, you really should! and for only 10 dollars you can't beat that price, click here to check it out. Thanks so much Tangle Teezer for allowing me to review your products!

Disclosure: the product was sent to me free of charge from the company for the purpose of the review, the opinion of the product is my own.

Little Miss A: Curl-Hawk

Here is a Curl-Hawk style I did on Little Miss A,  if you have a pre-teen/teen then you would know how it is hard (sometimes) to find a style to cater to that age group. Either a style is too baby-ish or too mature but here is a tween hairstyle I did, it's a curl-hawk lol.

Instructions:

1.) I washed, blow dried, and moisturized her hair before beginning.

2.) I parted her hair from ear to ear, I then sectioned off the top from the bottom. I began working on the bottom section.

3.) On the right side of her hair, I started making horizontal braids (starting from her ear going to the center of her hair.)

4.) I did the same thing on the left side, I started making a braid going to the center of her hair.
(note: make sure the two braids are lined up evenly.)

5.) I continued step 3-4 going all the way down her hair.

6.) I unraveled the top section of hair, and followed steps 3-4, and once I reached her forehead, I began making 4 braids going straight back.

7.) I unraveled the ends of all of her braids, and added rubberbands to keep the braid from unraveling.

8.) I used a curling iron to make ringlet curls throughout the entire hair.

9.) Added Bee Mine Juicy Spritz for shine, and Bee Mine Curly Butter to smooth her edges.

What's in my shampoo? Part-One (Sulfates)

What does this.....

and this.....

have in common???

Well, they both contain sodium laurel sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate. These two ingredients are detergents. Yes, the same detergent known to "fight tough grease" on our pots and pans, or on our clothes in the wash. This is the same thing found in many shampoos. This is not heathly for people with curly hair, we need to retain some of our natural oils. If we wash our hair with detergent, we are stripping our hair of all oils. These products were designed for people with straight hair, who have naturally oily hair and need to get rid of the oils more often. This is why many straight hair people wash more frequently. So using products containing sulfates works well for their hair.
If your curly it's recommended to use a sulfate-free shampoo :)

Evening With The Stars Event/ 3 Styles Combo

N's Girl Scout Troop had put together a wonderful event for the girls, and their male role models. The theme of the event is "Evening With The Stars"!! N had a BLAST!!! I wanted to give her a hairstyle that only a 6 yr old Star would have! So I decided to do a mixture of styles a twist out, sock bun and veil style combined. I think it came out pretty and she LOVED IT!

Instructions:

1.) I started her prep-style the day before, so her hair was already washed, moisturized, and the back of her hair was in two-strand twists.

2.) Beginning with the top section, I made 4 individual square boxes on the top of her hair. I used black rubberbands to section it off, then I added 4 on the left side, and 4 on the right side (so a total of 12 individual boxes.)

3.) Next, I began doing a two-strand twist in each of the boxes.

4.) Then I took the front two-strand twist and I crossed them over each other, into the boxes underneath it. Then I added more rubberbands to hold it in place. I continued criss-crossing each section into the section underneath it.

5.) I continued steps 3-4 on the right, and left side, of her hair.

6.) When the top of her was complete, I added the remaining hair into a ponytail, and then I made a sock bun.

7.) I unraveled the twists in the back of her hair, and sprayed Bee Mine Juicy Spritz for shine and added a flower accessory.

Half Braid Out / Half Two Strand Twist: Our Prep Hairstyle

N has a event coming up, and I wanted to prepare her hair for a style for the event. I decided to do half of her hair in two-strand twists, and the top half in a braid out. It sounds cute, but it didn't look to good lol.
But hey, as long as she is happy with her hair, then that's all that matters.

Instructions:
1.) Start with detangled moisturized hair.

2.) I parted the hair from ear to ear across her head.

3.) On the top section I made 3 large braids.

4.) On the bottom section I added bee Mine Curly Butter, and began making two-strand twists in her hair, without parting.

5.) In the morning, I took out the 3 large braids on top of her hair, and secured the hair in a hair tie.

6.) I added a headband as our accessory, and she was good to go.

Products used: Bee Mine Curly Butter
Tangle Teezer (review coming soon..)
and a hair tie/headband

Online Spotlight: Diva!

My name is Tiffany aka the diva's hairdresser :) I am a mother of 2 (boy, girl) I am creole and have naturally curly/wavy hair. My diva is 7 years old, she loves to dance and loves to get her hair styled. I just recently started styling the diva's hair, combing it since her birth but really styling it since last year. My blog is http://www.divalocks10.blogspot.com/ and it is about hair care, my homemade hair accessories I make for the diva as well as showcasing our new hairstyles. I wanted to create this blog so I could have a place to keep all my hairstyles as well as a place to share with others.

Hair Care Routine: The diva gets her hair washed every Saturday with Proclaim Olive Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner I really love this product because it is a great detangler, leaves the hair so soft and smells really yummy. After washing I use Proclaim Olive Moisturzing Leave-In Creme and then band her hair in four ponytails overnight to dry and stretch the hair. The diva's has tight curls. Sunday's are style days, when styling her hair I use a little of Carol's Daughter Hair butter and or Hair Honey.

Any Advice: Try not to put too much tension or pressure on the sides of the hair, for the diva it is so
delicate that I try to not make any ponytails or cornrows too tight. I don't want to break the hair off or damage it. I trim the diva's hair every 6-8 weeks and I let the conditioner sit in her hair with a cap on for 30 min. I detangle with a wide tooth comb and start from the ends then work my way up to the roots. I make sure her scalp is well moisturized and she sleeps with a satin scarf/bonnet on at night. Some people don't use heat on their little one's hair, I do personally this hasn't been an issue for us the diva's hair hasn't had any bad reactions to it, I press her out then style at times. I don't use a blow dryer on her hair I still keep with the same routine of banding and letting it air dry overnight.
Check out our styles and my home made hair bows, accessories and headbands over at http://www.divalocks10.blogspot.com/

Here are some very cute styles on Diva!

TALENTED MAMA! your designs are gorgeous and I love how you make your own headbands! I wish my mom could of styled my hair like that when I was growing up! Keep up the good work! To see more of Diva's styles you can visit their blog at DivaLocks

Bee Mine Product Review

Bee Mine is my favorite product line and I have been using it for quite some time now. I have been so busy lately, that it has taken me a while to write a proper review for the Bee Mine Products. So here is the moment everyone has been patiently waiting for...

Bee Mine Peppermint and Tea Tree Nourishing Shampoo

Product Description:Bee Mine Botanical Moisturizing Shampoo is loaded with botanical extracts to gently cleanse hair, remove residue and moisturize while enhancing natural shine.  Leaves hair touchably soft & smooth.  This formulation will nourish the scalp and strengthen the hair without stripping or weighing it down. Cleanse, hydrate and quench your thirsty dry hair with our botanical
moisturizing shampoo.

Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Organic Castor Oil, Palm Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Distilled Water, Soy Protein, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Glycerin, Panthenol (Vitamin B Complex), Potassium Hydroxide, Guar Gum, Peppermint Essential Oil, Tea Tree Essential Oil & Fragrance.

Review: It has a liquid consistency and N thinks it smells like waffles lol. It cleaned her hair and left it feeling very moisturized which actually shocked me. I was so use to the hair feeling squeaky clean and somewhat brittle and dry after shampooing, but this left her hair feeling like it has a coat of moisturizer added to her hair, which is a big plus!

Bee Mine Luscious Moisturizer

Product Description: Our moisturizer is enriched with pro-vitamins, natural proteins and healing butters that heal seal and nourish your hair and scalp.  Beautiful hair requires a complete balance of moisture and protein to prevent breakage. This light cream moisturizer help to prevent split ends and strengthen hair from root to tip.

Ingredients:  Distilled water, Hydrogenated Persea gratissima (Avocado) Seed Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil (and) Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Persea gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Emulsifying wax, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Vitamin E Tocopherol Oil & Fragrance (Island Mango - Original or Coconut Cream).

Review: This is one of my favorite products from the Bee Mine Line, it leaves N's Hair so soft and smelling great and moisturizes her hair without a heavy greasy feeling. A little goes a long way, and I use this daily before detangling her hair. It is thick and creamy in the jar, but once I put it in her hair it just vanishes, her hair soaks it all up! N and I absolutely LOVE the coconut scent, This is our all time favorite moisturizer!

Bee Mine Juicy Moisturizing Spritz

Product Description: Bee Mine Juicy - Moisturizing Daily Spritz is an excellent moisturizer for natural & relaxed hair.  It is loaded with organic aloe vera juice, ayurvedic herbs and nourishing essential oils to stimulate the scalp and strengthen your tresses. Use daily as a mid day refresher bedtime moisturizing treatment.

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Vera Juice, Herbal Infused Purified Water, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Pure Glycerin, Ayurvedic Herbs, Select Herbs, Polysorbate 20, Essential oils of Tea Tree, Peppermint & Grapefruit, Vitamin E Tocopherol Oil, Fragrance, Paraben & Formaldehyde  Free Preservative.

Review: Juicy is another one of my personal favorites! I use it on her braids, it adds a nice shine to her braids without it looking and feeling very oily. Its not heavy enough for her hair type to use alone. The spray goes on very light, it has a nice light scent like most of the Bee Mine Line. I started to use this on my son when he had cradle cap, I would spray this after his bath. This product along with olive oil has helped to get rid of the cradle cap, and helped keep it away!

Bee Mine Bee-U-Ti-Ful Deep Conditioner

Product Description: We are pleased to announce the release of our BEE•U•Ti•FUL Moisturizing Deep Conditioner; our first protein-free deep conditioner that helps to detangle your hair and provide excellent manageability. This deep conditioner is made with creamy and emollient Cupuacu butter, to promote smooth and soft hair while boosting the rebirth of the hair's natural moisture and elasticity. Review: This is a nice creamy deep conditioner, it helps to keep her hair smooth. I put this on her hair and I let it sit for approx 10-15 mins then I rinse. I notice right away while washing it out that her hair feels alot softer. When it was time to detangle the comb just glided through her hair with ease. All of the Bee mine products have a nice scent, we love it all!

Bee Loved Hair and Scalp Moisturizer

Review:  I use this oil as a extra shine and moisturizer, when her hair seems dryer than usual (Especially during these winter months.) It has a liquid consistency and a little goes a long way, this product has last us awhile so it's worth every penny. I like to put this on her edges, and the ends, of her hair to keep it well moisturized. I thought this product would be very heavy and greasy since it contains a few oils, but nope, it's perfect in every way with her hair type.

Bee Mine Curly Butter

Product Description: This shea butter and aloe based curly butter is packed with rich moisturizing nutrients to give you long lasting moisture and promote growth. It has a soft touchable hold that will help to defrizz your frizzes and give great definition. This Curly Butter is wonderful for twists, finger curls, puffs/pony tails and especially for laying down unruly hair. Great for naturals, relaxed, texlaxed, everyone.

  • Coconut Cream
  • Unscented
  • Island Mango
Ingredients: 100% Shea Butter, 100% Aloe Vera Gel, Essential Oil Blend, Vegetable Glycerin, Rosemary Leaf and Chammomile Extract, Silk Powder and Perfume.

Review: Goodbye Gel!! This butter has a wonderful hold when styling N's hair, the butter helps lay her frizzes and fly-aways down without the crunchy gel feeling or the white residue from gels. The hold is lighter than gel , I noticed that after-school and martial arts, the fly-aways reappear. It doesn't bother us, as long as its healthier than gel, then I'm happy!

* As you can see, we love BEE MINE!! N's Hair feels simply amazing!! Here is a picture of our Bee Mine collection.

Here are a few pictures when we have used Bee Mine products in her hair.
