2nd Day Of School Hairstyle: Braidout Pigtails

For the second day of school, I decided to make a cute braidout pigtails. It was very simple.
I just made a straight part going down her hair. Then I wet the hair with my spray of water&conditioner mixed. I also added Darcy's Botanical's Shea Butter Moisturizing Cream. I made 2 braids in her hair. In the morning, I unraveled the braids and gently separated her curls.

I also added Darcy's Botanicals Coconut & Hibiscus Oil Spray for shine. If you don't know by now, Darcy is now added to our routine! I absolutely love it! Want another chance to win some? Click here Darcy's Botanicals is having a contest, it ends Sept 16th.

1st Day Of School Style

N is now a First Grader!! I can't believe how fast my baby is growing up! She has already made a 100 on her first test, and is in the safety patrol. She is having a blast at school! I'm still adjusting to her school schedule. Well, I skipped ahead and I haven't shared her hairstyle for the first day of school. N wanted cornbraids and I wanted a braidout, so we met in the middle and combined the two. Here it is...

Please ignore all of the shine on her hair, I promise it was not that greasy, it's the flash lol.

I did not have a cornbraid design in mind, I just freestyled.

Her braidout got a little wet on her ends, from the shower.

I washed, deep conditioned, and applied the Smoothie and Style Milk to N's hair. I put her hair into 4 braids, and sent her to bed with her satin scarf. In the morning, I took out her braids, I noticed the curl definition right away. I pulled the top half into a ponytail and added a headband.

Take a look at the bottom of her hair, I must say, the curls are gorgeous. This picture was taken after running and playing at the park, and her curls still looked great!

Overall, I was pleased with the braid out, and the ingredients are perfect! But, these products didn't moisturize her hair the way I thought it would. There wasn't extra shine, if you take a look at the pictures her hair appears dull/dry. But to solve that, I added a oil/sealant on top of the Shea Mositure Milk. They do carry a shine mist, but my local Walgreens did not have it. I will keep you updated, on these products.

UPDATE: Well it's almost been a year, since writing this review. Since then, I purchased the Shea Moisture Milk and Shampoo again. I wasn't too fond of the Deep Conditiong Mask, so I will not repurchase it. But I love the Milk and Shampoo, and also I got my hands on the Shine Mist, which I also love! I really hope Walgreens has another BOGO sale, if so, I'll be right there, ready and equipped to purchase in bulk haha! But at my most recent shopping trip to Walmart, Shea Moisture was in the aisle! I can't believe it! and you guessed it, I brought some more bottles lol.

Braid Out With No Products

I have decided to do a braid out without using products.
I think it came out pretty nice, just a little poofy.

The night before, I had put 4 braids in her hair, two on top and two on the bottom.

In the morning, I unraveled the braid and placed the top half of the hair into a pony tail, and I left the bottom out.

Pony Tail Braidout

Ponytail-Braidout

I washed N's hair the night before, and when I finished detangling I put her hair into 5 large braids, and put on her satin cap, then she went to sleep. In the morning I took out her braids carefully, and made a halo styled braid by making two cornrows in the front of her hair. Then I placed the unraveled hair that was braided, in a ponytail and fluffed it up a bit, and it became a cute little braid out. I didn't use products, I just braided when it was wet.

Approx time. 10 minutes
