Side Cornrows With Twists

We are now on week 4 of the BeadsBraidsBeyond Protective Style Challenge. I did a simple side style with cornbraids and twists. We only had 1 hour to do this style.

I started in the front, and created 5 side cornbraids.

In the back of her hair, I made medium sized two strand twists. I grabbed random sections, without parting. Then I wet the section, applied Beija Flor Naturals Creme Brulee, and twisted.

It has been rainy and humid all last week, and on & off this week. Her hair is more frizzier than normal (sigh.) But I'm looking on the bright side! Because this summer's heat is going to be torture.

Check out the shrinkage in the ponytail.

Products Used:
Beija Flor Naturals Creme Brulee (to style)
Bee Mine Luscious (prior to twisting for moisture)
Homemade Shea Butter (to seal)

Cornbraid Ponytail

After winter break, I decided that N and I, needed a nice break. I create this braided ponytail and each school day, I switched up the style to give it more than one look.

On Monday I wrapped the hair into a bun.

On Tuesday I left the braids free in the ponytail.

On Wednesday, I wrapped the hair around to create the "I Dream Of Jeannie" look.

On Thursday, I kept Wednesday's look and added a two strand twist.

On Friday, I made a regular braid.

So that's a total of 5 different hairstyles from the braided ponytail, now who says braids are versatile?? LOL

Two Layered Cornbraids With Twists

As I was going through our hair care photo album. I stumbled upon this style, I totally forgot to show everyone. I did this style during the summer. I've been doing low maintenance styles to promote growth. So nothing too fancy lol. But here it is, two (2) rows of cornbraids and twists coming out of the top section.

Updated Braided Ponytail

On day 3 of the braided ponytail style, I wanted to do something to help hide all of the fuzzes by adding some curls to the braids. I put her hair in one big braid at night, and when she woke up, I took the braid apart and it left a nice curl to her braids. I then took one individual braid and wrapped it around the ponytail.

Braided PonyTail

I wanted to make a change instead of the regular ponytail, I decided to do a braided ponytail.

Start with well moisturized hair, I started braiding in the back of "N"s  hair making slightly-slanted parts going up towards the center of the head. I continue braiding all around her hair. Check out this website http://learncornrows.com/step1.html   if you don't know how to braid. They have color illustrations to help make it easier to learn. Once you get the hang of braiding, the harder part will be making sure the parts look right lol

Added a cute accessory and she was ready to go
