Tangle Teezer Review

After hearing about the Tangle Teezer everywhere, I still was very skeptical. I heard rave reviews for the denman brush and I jumped on the band wagon, and it did absolutely nothing for our hair. So I figure this brush would live up to it's name and be a big fat teaser aka teezer!

But, I was soooooo wrong! This brush is the best brush on the market! It may look a little funny, with it's long and short bristles, and it doesn't have a handle or anything to help grip it in your hands. But the way that it glides through N's hair is incredible! I have been using it for a few months now, on both wet and dry hair to detangle and it doesn't pull or cause breakage. When I first tried it and I heard the sound it makes(like a crunchy/ripping sound) I was ready to toss it away, but don't be fooled by the sound. All of the hair that was left in the brush was shed hair.

The Tangle Teezer clumps her curls together so nicely when her hair is wet. I have tossed my wide tooth comb and all of my other combs and brushes to the side. I'm not to sure what makes this brush detangle with such ease..it must be some form of magic lol.

I also had to try this brush, isn't it simply adorable! N loves it, she puts her stickers inside of it.

Overall this is a great detangling brush, and if you haven't tried it, you really should! and for only 10 dollars you can't beat that price, click here to check it out. Thanks so much Tangle Teezer for allowing me to review your products!

Disclosure: the product was sent to me free of charge from the company for the purpose of the review, the opinion of the product is my own.

Little Miss A: Curl-Hawk

Here is a Curl-Hawk style I did on Little Miss A,  if you have a pre-teen/teen then you would know how it is hard (sometimes) to find a style to cater to that age group. Either a style is too baby-ish or too mature but here is a tween hairstyle I did, it's a curl-hawk lol.

Instructions:

1.) I washed, blow dried, and moisturized her hair before beginning.

2.) I parted her hair from ear to ear, I then sectioned off the top from the bottom. I began working on the bottom section.

3.) On the right side of her hair, I started making horizontal braids (starting from her ear going to the center of her hair.)

4.) I did the same thing on the left side, I started making a braid going to the center of her hair.
(note: make sure the two braids are lined up evenly.)

5.) I continued step 3-4 going all the way down her hair.

6.) I unraveled the top section of hair, and followed steps 3-4, and once I reached her forehead, I began making 4 braids going straight back.

7.) I unraveled the ends of all of her braids, and added rubberbands to keep the braid from unraveling.

8.) I used a curling iron to make ringlet curls throughout the entire hair.

9.) Added Bee Mine Juicy Spritz for shine, and Bee Mine Curly Butter to smooth her edges.

Products Used:

Curling Iron
Bee Mine Juicy Spritz
Bee Mine Curly Butter
Blow dryer
Bee Mine Luscious Moisturizer

Approx time: 2 hours

What's in my shampoo? Part-One (Sulfates)

What does this.....

and this.....

have in common???

Well, they both contain sodium laurel sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate. These two ingredients are detergents. Yes, the same detergent known to "fight tough grease" on our pots and pans, or on our clothes in the wash. This is the same thing found in many shampoos. This is not heathly for people with curly hair, we need to retain some of our natural oils. If we wash our hair with detergent, we are stripping our hair of all oils. These products were designed for people with straight hair, who have naturally oily hair and need to get rid of the oils more often. This is why many straight hair people wash more frequently. So using products containing sulfates works well for their hair.
If your curly it's recommended to use a sulfate-free shampoo :)

Evening With The Stars Event/ 3 Styles Combo

N's Girl Scout Troop had put together a wonderful event for the girls, and their male role models. The theme of the event is "Evening With The Stars"!! N had a BLAST!!! I wanted to give her a hairstyle that only a 6 yr old Star would have! So I decided to do a mixture of styles a twist out, sock bun and veil style combined. I think it came out pretty and she LOVED IT!

Instructions:

1.) I started her prep-style the day before, so her hair was already washed, moisturized, and the back of her hair was in two-strand twists.

2.) Beginning with the top section, I made 4 individual square boxes on the top of her hair. I used black rubberbands to section it off, then I added 4 on the left side, and 4 on the right side (so a total of 12 individual boxes.)

3.) Next, I began doing a two-strand twist in each of the boxes.

4.) Then I took the front two-strand twist and I crossed them over each other, into the boxes underneath it. Then I added more rubberbands to hold it in place. I continued criss-crossing each section into the section underneath it.

5.) I continued steps 3-4 on the right, and left side, of her hair.

6.) When the top of her was complete, I added the remaining hair into a ponytail, and then I made a sock bun.

7.) I unraveled the twists in the back of her hair, and sprayed Bee Mine Juicy Spritz for shine and added a flower accessory.

Products Used: Bee Mine Juicy Spritz
Tangle Teezer Brush (review very soon)
Rubberbands/Hair Tie and Flower

Approx Time: 35 mins.
